Access to technology isn't equal, and the gap is growing. According to the Australian Digital Inclusion Index, households in low-income brackets consistently face lower digital access, affordability, and skills. For many families, owning a working laptop or tablet simply isn't possible, even though it's essential for education, employment, and connection.
At the same time, thousands of perfectly usable devices are gathering dust in drawers, storerooms, and offices across the country. The Tech Recovery Program exists to connect those two realities.
We take donated tech (laptops, tablets, desktops, phones) and give it a second life. Every device goes through a rigorous refurbishment pipeline: military-grade data destruction, comprehensive diagnostics, component-level repair, and quality assurance. What comes out the other end is a reliable, clean, ready-to-use device.
Devices that meet our criteria go directly to students, families, and schools that need them most. Others are sold through the Techie Store , with 100% of proceeds going straight back into the program.
It's not just recycling. It's rebuilding opportunity, one device at a time, and keeping good tech out of landfill while we're at it.

Our process
Every device. Every time.
No shortcuts. No half-measures. Every device that passes through our hands goes through the same rigorous pipeline, because the people receiving them deserve nothing less.
Receive & assess
Devices are catalogued, visually inspected, and triaged based on age, condition, and potential.
Secure wipe
All data is destroyed using NIST 800-88 compliant methods, the same standard used by defence and government agencies.
Full diagnostics
Every component is tested: battery health, display, keyboard, trackpad, ports, Wi-Fi, speakers, and storage integrity.
Repair & replace
Faulty components are replaced: batteries, RAM, SSDs, screens, keyboards, hinges, and charging ports.
Deploy or list
Devices that match recipient needs are deployed for free. The rest are listed on the Techie Store to fund the program.
Data security
Your data doesn't leave with the device. It doesn't leave at all.
We understand that donating a device means trusting us with what was on it. That trust isn't taken lightly. Our data destruction process exceeds industry standards and ensures complete, irreversible erasure, every time.
Quality assurance
We don't hand out broken tech.
Every device goes through a comprehensive diagnostic and repair process. If it doesn't meet our standards, it doesn't go out the door.
We replace failing batteries, upgrade RAM and storage, swap out damaged screens and keyboards, fix broken hinges and charging ports, and install a fresh operating system. What recipients receive is a device that looks, feels, and performs like it has plenty of life left.
Full hardware diagnostics
CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, display, and I/O tested under load
Component-level repair
Batteries, SSDs, RAM, screens, keyboards, and ports replaced
Clean OS install
Fresh operating system, fully updated, with essential software
Final QA check
Every device passes a final inspection before it leaves our hands
Impact
Where recovered devices end up
Students & families
Devices are provided free of charge to individuals and families experiencing disadvantage, referred through schools, charities, and community organisations.
The Techie Store
Devices that don't match recipient needs are listed on our eBay for Charity store. 100% of proceeds fund repairs, parts, tools, and delivery for free devices.
Out of landfill
Every device we recover is one less in the ground. We've diverted over 1.5 tonnes of e-waste from landfill this financial year alone, and we're just getting started.

Got forgotten tech lying around?
That old laptop, tablet, or phone could change someone's life. We'll handle the rest, securely and responsibly.
