Duke4Volunteering
overview
Real skills. Real impact. Real volunteering.

Techie Australia is a proud Duke 4Volunteering partner, part of the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award framework that connects young Australians with meaningful volunteering opportunities at registered charities and not-for-profits.
Each year, more than 45,000 young people across Australia take on the Duke of Ed Award, committing to personal growth through service, skills, physical activity, and adventure. Volunteering sits at the heart of that journey, and we're here to make it count.
Through our partnership, participants gain hands-on experience in tech recovery, device refurbishment, data handling, and community redistribution. They don't just tick a box. They learn how technology can be a force for equity, sustainability, and real-world change.
Whether it's sorting donated devices, assisting with quality checks, helping prepare tech for redistribution, or supporting community events, every volunteer role at Techie is structured, safe, and designed to build genuine skills.
It's volunteering with purpose, and the impact goes both ways.

Why It Works
The numbers speak for themselves.
Nationally, 75% of Duke of Ed participants say they now plan to volunteer regularly, and 84% recognise the importance of contributing to their community. Monthly volunteering rates among participants jump from 47% to 77% after engaging with the framework.
At Techie, volunteers don't just show up. They contribute to something tangible. Every device they help recover is one more tool in the hands of a student, a family, or a community that needs it. They see the direct line between their effort and someone else's opportunity.
That's the kind of experience that sticks, not because it looks good on a resume, but because it changes how you see the world.
For young people exploring their interests in technology, sustainability, logistics, or social enterprise, a placement with Techie Australia offers a front-row seat to how a mission-driven organisation actually runs.
