About us
Our Pillars
Four foundations.
One mission.
Everything we do at Techie Australia is anchored by four pillars. They guide how we operate, where we invest our energy, and how we measure success. They aren't just words on a wall; they're the lens through which every decision is made, from which devices we recover, to who receives them, to how we build partnerships that last.
Pillar One
Access
Digital access is the foundation of modern opportunity. Without a working device and a reliable connection, people are locked out of education, employment, healthcare, and civic life. We exist to remove that barrier.
We recover usable technology from businesses, schools, and individuals, then securely wipe, repair, and redistribute it to those who need it most. Every device that reaches someone's hands is a door that opens. Access isn't a privilege. It's a right.
Pillar Two
Education
A device without knowledge is just a screen. We believe that real digital inclusion means equipping people with the skills and confidence to use technology meaningfully: for learning, for work, and for life.
Through programs like Future Voices, school partnerships, and community workshops, we help people go beyond just switching something on. We help them tell stories, build skills, explore careers, and discover what they're capable of when the tools are finally in their hands.
Pillar Three
Sustainability
Australia generates over 500,000 tonnes of e-waste every year, and most of it still ends up in landfill. Much of it is perfectly functional. We intercept that waste stream and give devices a second life, keeping tech in circulation and out of the ground.
Sustainability isn't a side project for us. It's baked into our model. Every device we recover is one less in a tip. Every refurbishment extends a product's useful life by years. And anything that truly can't be saved is recycled responsibly through certified partners. People and planet. We don't choose between them.
Pillar Four
Community
Technology is only as powerful as the connections it enables. We don't just hand over devices and walk away. We build relationships with schools, community organisations, and the people we serve. That's how you create real, lasting change.
Our volunteers, donors, and partners are the backbone of this work. From corporate tech donations to individual contributions, from skilled refurbishers to classroom mentors. This is a community effort, driven by people who believe that everyone deserves a fair go in the digital age.

How we operate
Principles that guide us
Data Security First
Every device we handle is securely wiped using industry-standard methods before it goes anywhere. Donor trust starts with data protection. No exceptions, no shortcuts.
People Over Numbers
We measure success by outcomes, not vanity metrics. One device in the right hands matters more than a hundred gathering dust in a warehouse waiting for a photo op.
Circular by Design
Our model is built on circularity. Devices are recovered, refurbished, redistributed, or responsibly recycled. Nothing disappears silently. Every item has an outcome.
Dignity in Every Interaction
Receiving support should never feel like charity. We treat every person, family, and organisation with respect, because dignity isn't a nice-to-have, it's non-negotiable.
Quality, Not Quantity
We don't hand out broken screens and call it impact. Devices are tested, repaired, and prepped so they're genuinely useful, not just technically functional.
Empowerment Over Dependency
A device is a starting point, not a finish line. We pair technology with skills and support so that people can stand on their own. That's where real impact lives.
